School Policies and Student Handbook

Please review School Policies and the Student Handbook as part of the enrollment/registration process, and before school begins each year.

Continuing Registration or New Student Enrollment

New Student Enrollment is for students NEW to Poway Unified School District or for students who recently moved and enrolling in a new school.

Continuing Student Registration is registration for current PUSD students for the next school year.  Continuing Student Registration is required for all students in preparation for the next school year, and for 8th grade students promoting to MCHS as a 9th grade student.  Continuing Student Registration will need to be completed online via the PUSD ParentVue Portal in early spring every year for the next school year.

Ways to Get Involved

MCHS offers a myriad of classes, clubs, and sports to choose from each year.  A great way to make connections, find something you enjoy, and get connected to MCHS, is to pick at least one extracurricular activity to join.  Click on the following links to see some of the things we are doing at MCHS.

Common First Questions

The Sundevil Way

What is the Sundevil Way?  The Sundevil Way is who we are on campus and off campus.  It is a way of life at Mt. Carmel High School.  Through contributions to, and participation in a safe and supportive school culture, excelling in rigorous courses, positively engaged in extra-curricular activities, and proudly providing service to our community; educators, students and families help create The Sundevil Way.   Visit our Mission/Vision page.

First Day of School

What do I bring on the first day of school?  Backpack, water, pen, paper, snack, and lunch (if not buying lunch in the cafeteria...note: lunch is currently free to all PUSD students 2023-2024).

Registration Day

Do I need to come to Registration Day the week before school begins?  Yes, all students need to attend their assigned registration day the week before school begins.  On 9th grade Registration Day students will pick up their class schedule, books, purchase PE clothes, and get their yearbook picture taken.

Lockers

Lockers will be available for assignment beginning the first week or two of school in the Campus Security office, and are available for assignment throughout the school year.   You can bring your own combination pad lock from home or purchase a lock in the Finance Office.
