Continuing Registration or New Student Enrollment
New Student Enrollment is for students NEW to Poway Unified School District or for students who recently moved and enrolling in a new school.
Continuing Student Registration is registration for current PUSD students for the next school year. Continuing Student Registration is required for all students in preparation for the next school year, and for 8th grade students promoting to MCHS as a 9th grade student. Continuing Student Registration will need to be completed online via the PUSD ParentVue Portal in early spring every year for the next school year.
August Registration
August Registration is for all students. Registration happens the week before school starts, and is when students will pick up books, purchase PE clothes, and get their school picture taken. View the August Registration schedule for dates and times by grade.
The MCHS Counseling website page has current and up to date information regarding course selection, counselors, course change requests, college and career readiness opportunities, and more! Be sure to visit the Counseling website pages for Freshman Student Information and 8th Grade Transition as well. The Counseling Scoop is updated monthly throughout the school year and has great information regarding on-campus and community opportunities for students, college and career readiness events, scholarships opportunities, internships, and much more.
Course Selection
Visit the MCHS Counseling website page for class selection dates and details, course details, and more.
Note - Students attending PUSD feeder schools to MCHS will be sent information early February.
Common Freshman Questions/FAQs
The Sundevil Way
What is the Sundevil Way? The Sundevil Way is who we are on campus and off campus. It is a way of life at Mt. Carmel High School. Through contributions to, and participation in a safe and supportive school culture, excelling in rigorous courses, positively engaged in extra-curricular activities, and proudly providing service to our community; educators, students and families help create The Sundevil Way. Visit our Mission/Vision page.
First Day of School
What do I bring on the first day of school? Backpack, water, pen, paper, snack, and lunch (if you are not getting lunch in the cafeteria).
Registration Day
Do I need to come to Registration Day the week before school begins? Yes, all students need to attend their assigned registration day the week before school begins. On the 9th grade Registration Day, students will pick up their class schedule, books, purchase PE clothes, and get their yearbook picture taken.
Lockers
Lockers will be available for assignment beginning the first week or two of school in the Campus Security office, and are available for assignment throughout the school year. You can bring your own combination pad lock from home or purchase a lock in the Finance Office.
PE Clothes
PE Clothes can be purchased during Registration Day in August or in the Finance Office.
School Spirit Days
We wear RED on Fridays. All RED from head to toe. Your items can be MCHS logo items or red clothing items you have at home. If you are interested in purchasing MCHS logo clothing, please see our Webstore on the MCHS website or visit the Finance Office in the Administration building.
Clubs
Visit the ASB website for club information. You may join a club at anytime during the school year, but ASB will host a Club Rush at lunch during trimester 1 (typically in September), and again in trimester 2 (typically in February). This is a great opportunity to visit different clubs to find clubs that suit your interests. Interested in starting a new club, visit the ASB website for more information.
Sports
Interested in joining a sport? Be sure to check the Athletic website for athletic packet due dates and tryout dates and times. Click HERE for helpful information for new students.
Note - Athletic packets for Fall Sports begin being accepted in May. A cleared athletic packet is required in order to tryout for a sport.
